AMP: Embracing Technology for a SMARTer, Faster Supply Chain
Since its inception in 2016, Airline MRO Parts (AMP) has emerged as a global leader in providing adaptive supply chain solutions for airlines and MRO clients. By focusing on supply chain automation, AMP adopts a broader, deeper, SMARTer, faster and more transparent approach to enhance the total cost of ownership.
“Clearly other than the technology, our differentiator is our people,” says JC Flores, AMP’s Senior Manager for Business Development. “Our people will go the extra two miles — not the extra mile. And they will definitely provide value-added solutions. They will think out of the box in every case. Every customer is different.”
AMP sets itself apart by offering:
- Reduced times in approvals for MR/PO creations
- Quicker quote compliance with internal criteria
- Elimination of false sense of urgency to have material on-site earlier
- Efficient management of topics, reducing time investment
AMP achieves these goals through automation and a strong partnership with different advanced and reliable platforms for EDI-based communication.
This collaboration allows for computer-to-computer exchange of business documents and messages, standardized messaging, real-time communication and high reliability and speed in communicating with hundreds of suppliers and customers.
With its proprietary algorithm, AMP is able to instantly identify the best options for clients based on their established parameters. Additionally, the platform offers elevated real-time supplier inventory visibility, effectively making the world a warehouse.
“Time spent on the process of preparing material requisitions, getting approvals, obtaining the necessary quotes based on internal policies and finally placing the order, has been significantly reduced,” Flores says. “What once took days has now been reduced to mere minutes. This frees up procurement agents to focus on higher-value items, leading to cost savings."
AMP's SMART Purchasing approach offers numerous advantages. By implementing full automation ERP integration, customers can experience a 42 percent reduction in MR to PO processing time, translating into lower inventory levels and improved aircraft maintenance turnaround times. Quoting coverage, purchasing coverage, electronic invoicing, electronic advanced shipping notices and automatic three-way match are also optimized through AMP's processes.
"Part of the mindset that we're also trying to change for the customer is the notion that everything is urgent. Which, in other words, if your house is a mess, everything will be urgent," Flores said. "We will help our customers reduce their safety stock to a level that will provide comfort to their operation but will allow a reduction."
This shift towards automation not only streamlines processes, but it also has a positive effect on the environment. By optimizing inventory management, reducing waste, and refocusing employees on high-value activities, AMP's clients can achieve greener operations.
SMART Suite, an analytics-based tool offered by AMP, empowers customers to make intelligent decisions by providing data-driven suggestions, such as optimal dates or alternative part numbers for higher savings. This comprehensive platform streamlines purchasing by granting access to numerous suppliers in real-time on a single screen, accommodating each customer's unique internal requirements and offering flexibility.
“We have these tools to help customers improve their day-to-day work and their results,” says Magdalena Granados, AMP Product Manager. “We show the customer with data that they can get better results if they change standard practices for SMART decisions at transactional level that can give them higher savings.”
AMP’s upcoming SMART Shipping focuses on logistics to complement the company’s existing purchasing and analytics offerings. Set to launch in the third quarter of this year, SMART Shipping aims to enhance and simplify the logistics process for AMP’s customers, Granados says.
AMP already has forged strong partnerships with prominent players in the aviation industry, as demonstrated by its recent collaborations with Boeing and Lufthansa Technik. Boeing and AMP entered into a Tailored Parts Package (TPP) agreement, designating Boeing as a "Platinum Supplier" for AMP's parts business.
The deal streamlines sourcing transactions through Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and AMP's automated solution, enhancing efficiency and reducing supply chain costs and order fulfillment times for both parties.
AMP's long-term, customizable agreement with Lufthansa Technik for Consumable & Expandable (C&E) materials supply ensures availability of C&E materials for AMP's Airline and MRO network throughout the Americas.
