Vertical Solutions with Magnetic Group
Tallinn-based Magnetic Group has expanded its capabilities dramatically over the past 20 years, establishing a true global presence offering vertically integrated solutions that span the commercial aircraft aftermarket.
Magnetic Group has been strengthening its presence globally to provide seamless and uninterrupted operations across time zones. It operates from sites across Europe, the USA, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia, with personnel from all its major regions set to attend MRO Europe.
Magnetic Group continues to offer heavy checks from its four-hanger facility in Talinn, Estonia, but over the years a raft of other complementary services have been developed, including engine maintenance, asset management, leasing, engineering, design, and training.
Aircraft maintenance remains a core capability, of course, with Magnetic operating more than 15 line stations around the world and an on-site team for A320 window frame repairs. In Tallinn, meanwhile, it also has an aircraft paint hangar and plans to add two more heavy maintenance hangars by the end of 2025.
Magnetic’s range of services and locations allows the company and its customers to adapt to shifts in the aviation cycle, whether that be via parts provision to mitigate the supply chain crisis, quick-turn engine maintenance to cut turnaround times or leasing of mid-life assets to counteract new aircraft delivery delays.
Such flexibility has resulted in another record year for Magnetic Engines, which can currently work on six CFM56-5/-7 engines simultaneously, with plans to increase this to 12 by 2027 and add CFM LEAP engine capabilities. And while its quick-turn and module exchange services have never been more popular, customers also benefit from synergies with the Magnetic Assets teams to ensure they can maximize the value of their turbofans and ensure spares cover is always available.
This is one example of how Magnetic integrates its different services to deliver customized, one-stop solutions, which few other aftermarket businesses have the capabilities to match. The group itself also benefits from these synergies, leaning on the deep technical knowledge of Magnetic Maintenance, Magnetic Engines and Magnetic Engineering as the foundation for its other product offerings.
Knowledge like this has underpinned the launches of Magnetic Leasing, which rents aircraft, engine and landing gear assets and recently secured the group’s first structured finance facility to support portfolio growth; Magnetic Trading, which provides spare parts and recently opened the company’s newest warehouse, in Miami; and Enginestands24, the online platform from which engine stands are just a click away from six global locations, including the newest in Singapore.
And while the expansion of other maintenance companies has been limited by labor shortages after the pandemic, Magnetic ensures a steady stream of new talent from Magnetic Training, its Part 147-approved training facility in Tallinn, which opened in 2018. This has been complemented by Magnetic Academy, which enrolled its first student technicians in 2024. The training is divided into rounds of two-week theory and two-week hands-on practice at Magnetic MRO facilities.
Synergies like this have helped Magnetic integrate its maintenance, engineering, asset management and training operations into a virtuous circle of knowledge and experience transfer. In turn, this has streamlined the development of a full product portfolio that can support any type of airline with customized, reliable and punctual solutions.
Barcelona is Magnetic Group’s 10th year at MRO Europe. At Booth No. 2060, visitors will be able to meet business unit representatives from Magnetic Maintenance, Magnetic Assets, and Magnetic Talents, as well as procurement personnel and representatives from the US and Malaysia.
